Give a second thought!

I am writing after more than an year. I did not have a motivation to write as I did not have a strong compulsion from within. But today, being the last day of 2009, I felt like reviving my inner instincts and starting the New Year with my e-pen. And of course, I feel much better when I write. Yesterday, I learned two important things in my life. Though I have always read and heard about it, this was kind-of a gentle reminder for me. Here are they:

1. Do the thing that you are most afraid of.
2. Never make a judgment about a person without giving proper time to know that person.

I had a Dr appointment yesterday morning and I went there around 9.30 am. As funny as it might sound, I am very scared of elevators. There was no one around and the doctor office was on the third floor. As always, I tried to look for stairs. But that option was not available. So I had two options:
1. To cancel the appointment and come back again with someone.
2. To take the elevator.

I kept my nerves cool and decided to do it once and for all. And there I was, pressing the button '3'. The door closed and I began to wait for the third floor. I tried not to have any negative thought at that time. And within fractions of seconds, I was on the third floor. While coming down, I did the same. I am not scared of elevators any more.

Next incident. It was my second visit to this doctor yesterday. From the first visit, I did not quite like the suggestions given by the doctor. And I wanted to see a more experienced doctor. I was almost going to reschedule my appointment with some other senior doctor. But when I went yesterday, I felt glad that I came to this doctor. She listened to me very carefully and answered all the questions that I had which usually not everybody does. In the end, she gave me two pieces of advice like a mother which really made me feel happy. My day started great.
I have decided to see this doctor again.

Life teaches us lessons everyday. Its up to us to learn from them or not!

Use It or Loose It!

A Very profound one liner which speaks its worth. So many times have we encountered situations where we need to focus on this statement. The purpose of this speech is to discuss its applications in our real life parameters.

Time: There is a very popular adage which goes like 'time and tide wait for none'! It is also said that time is a non-renewable resource. So either we use time or we loose it. Meaning that we should do whatever we want given the time that we have. Holds true for career, relationship, hobbies, self-improvement, etc. We should use our time wisely such that we do not have to repent in the climax of our lives. Realize and fulfill your dreams!

Money: Same goes for vitamin M i.e. Money. When we earn good amount of money, we should also know how to use it. Meaning that we should try to use it for the betterment of people who need it. We should also try to spend money on things that we want to do. At the same time, we should use the money to invest so that we have enough quota left when we retire. If we do not do all this and just try to hold money, we are infact loosing money eventhough we have it. Anything that is holded does not do any good, but whatever keeps flowing creates prosperity.

Opportunity: Same thing holds true for opportunity. Opportunity should be grabbed when it knocks our door else it will knock the next door. Great leaders have turned adversities into opportunities. We need to identify whatever comes along our way as an opportunity and keep ourself open to that.

Relationships: This is one of our most important assets as a social animal. We need to cherish the relationships and make the most out of them. If we cannot, then we are going to loose them. Relationships can be in the form of parents, spouse, kids, siblings, friends, etc. Every relationship gives us a lesson to learn which helps us to grow.

Instincts: At times when we do not know where to go and what to do, we rely on instincts. They are by and far last and the most important factor to resort to. We should try to listen to our instincts or we may slip off a good opportunity.

Last but not the least, use the company vacation. Else you will loose it:-)) (If you are in a company where vacation is not carried over)

Live One Day at a Time

A few days back, I was reading 'Last Lecture' by Prof. Randy Puasch, the man who came in limelight an year back due to his valor and passion to live while fighting the deadliest disease, cancer. While I was flipping through its pages, my attention was caught by a sentence wherein he was portraying the qualities of his wife. He mentioned that she believes in living one day at a time. My focus was stuck there. Even after flipping a few more pages, I was compelled to come back to that same page and read that sentence again. Why was I so much attracted to that sentence? I do not remember much of the well-written composition except this sentence. What does it mean to live one day at a time? A laymen's analogy would be to eat bread bit by bit rather than trying to eat all at once. I am not sure if I am following this principle but I am somehow interested in taking it at heart! If we live one day at a time, we become free from the shackles of worries about the future. No one has seen the future but the present. So we should strive to take one day and live it by doing our best. The 'best' need not be something very great but something that can be as small as cleaning our room, calling a friend and making him/her laugh and feel good, praying for someone's happiness, going to a place of your choice and feeling good about it, reading a book, writing your thougths, and assessing yourself everyday and thank GOD for living in this world! We should start taking an inventory of ourselves at the end of each day by asking ourself 'Did I live just today?'

My Love

You are a shower of Love..
Sprinkling in my life

You are an ocean of joy..
Overflowing with kindness and delight

You take my worries and share my pain..
Revealing the depth of your love time and again

You wait for hours to walk hand-in-hand..
I yearn for that wait to have a sooner end

Your wake-up call at dawn starts my day..
And fills it up with vital energy, needless to say

With no doors on your heart, you are always ready to give..
That utmost care and attention, is indeed rare to receive

Fortune knocked my life-door when you came in..
I realized the spring of my life is having its waited beginning

Mental Floss

It has been a while since I wrote something so thought of allowing my pen to flow freely for a while. It is said that thoughts shape the character of a person. They form either the strong pillars or the hollow base of one's personality. Through my personal experiences and devouring through books, I have gained a broader and a very pragmatic approach to living a life that I have always desired to live. A person should try to think very postiviely and keep high spirits without being slave to circumstances. This will eventually mould the thinking pattern of a person and remove the negative thoughts from one's mind. A free and positive mind will thus help a person to live a happy and fulfilling life!

Rise above yourself!

Past few days have been quite different which churned my emotional realm. I have realized how difficult it is to rise above one's own limited notions and illusionary shackles and to have a vision of the big picture. It is during this time that I have also realized that certain things happen for a very strong reason which is beyond our mortal brain to analyze, may be for a more profound, clear, and better tomorrow! I also realized that to truly love someone and to understand someone's love for times eternal is a blessing which takes a great faith and courage for which I strive day by day. I am sure I will reach the summit before it gets dark!!

Time..Be My Friend!

In one of the finest moments that I have experienced in near past, I felt that time needs to stop and take a look at the grim on my face and give me one of its few more moments to be with the person whose companionship I cherish the most. And there came its reply, "I am here to give you my moments, are you ready to grab them?" It made me realize that I had been racing against time to see what was lying ahead. Immediately, I grabbed those gifted moments and thanked GOD for giving me the intellect to act on it. There was an air of solemnity in the conversation that was carried out in those moments. There was an ocean of emotional waves being formed in those moments. There was a room of silence in those moments. And yet, those moments were the most precious ones that I have sealed in my non-volatile memory for years to come. O Time! please be my friend always as you were a while back! I promise to acknowledge your friendship by filling your moments with more love and joy!!
